Embroidered shirt is not just an item of clothing and an important element of the Ukrainian national tradition, it is part of the spiritual culture of our people. From time immemorial, Ukrainians have sought to decorate and embellish the things that surround them: their homes, household items and, above all, their clothes. The shirt, as the closest item of clothing to the body was a special sacred object. The most vulnerable places for a person - collar, cuffs, chest, sleeves and hem (the last two parts - only for women) were decorated with embroidered ornaments.
Ukrainian vyshyvanka is not only one of the most common and popular types of folk art, it is a kind of magic code - a way of transmitting ancient ritual information. Signs and symbols, encrypted in an embroidered shirt, acted as a kind of talisman - protecting the native man, dressed in it, from evil forces. Valuable information was placed in the repeating pattern, each line was not accidental. Symbols have been created and perfected for centuries, they have absorbed a special sacred meaning, mythological ideas and beliefs of our people, magic and the work of ancestors.
Treasurers diligently preserve and nurture national traditions. Therefore, the Vyshyvanka’s Day for employees of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine is a special holiday when you can not only show off an elegant shirt, but also get the energy of ancestors, be proud of their historical and cultural heritage and look proudly into the future.
